When will the madness end?

Welcome to the Post Eclipse blog! I know that this whole story line has had been filled with smoke and mirrors from day number one but... is the air once again becoming cloudy? I know that there are millions if not billions of dollars involved in this issue but there seems to be several individuals out there that want to continue to drag these procedings on. I don't want to speculate that since there are lawyers involved and there revenue is being generated like a self-perpetuating parking meter but I see no end to these extensions. What if the bid is still too low for the investors likings? Are we going to be stirring eggnog and singing christmas carols by the time a resolution is reached? I hope not... lets get on with the saga!

  1. Kinda quiet around this place. At least I got the honor of being the very first poster. I thought maybe Ken, or Shane, or Gad, or somebody else might take the bait first.

    Well, that said I saw an Eclipse at KACK about a week ago. Seems there are a few of the birds still in the air. I wouldn't get in one of the danged things on a bet but I guess a lot of pilots don't mind pushing the envelope. That what got those Air France people killed. Pilots pushing the envelope. Personally I can't believe it hasn't happened to an Eclipse yet.

    How's that for a conversation starter!

  2. Actually I am not aware of any incidents that can be directly attributed to the aircraft. The aircraft is still safe when you consider the the number of hours flown thus far. Many of the malfunctions or mishaps have been due to pilot errors.

    Time will tell how the systems and structure will hold up. If the company gets back up and running, I think you will see some enhancements that will improve some of the reliability issues.

    The Midway was a real incident that only averted becoming a grounding AD by the skill of the pilots (and the VFR conditions).

  4. And the same can be said of many other aircraft. The skills of a well trained plot have averted many potentially damaging incidents, whether it be the Eclipse 500 or a Cessna 172. Mechanical or electrical failures are inherent with all designs. Some designs prove to be more reliable than others of course. I think that many of the flaws that have been identified in the EA500 were being worked on and several enhancements were about to be introduced when the company shut down. If this information and technology are still available once the "NEWCO" gets going I know you will see several improvements made rapidly.

  7. Still no participation... what a shame! The "New-Old" blog has became a soapbox for participants to devulge their intelligence about the atomic bomb, WTC event, WWII and other topics. Topics that have been beaten and mashed into the ground. I have noticed that some participants are still try to bring control to the sessions but banter continues.

    The "New-Old" blog lacks direction! Does anybody want to discuss events related to the EA500, VLJ or other aviation related events?

  8. I think everyone would love to discuss events related to the EA500, unfortunately there isn't much to discuss.

  9. You are partially correct. Have you looked at the Eclipse Owners site lately. There are people trying to lease the EA500. This is a good aircraft. I will admit that practically each one is in a different configuration BUT... if a group were to get together and bring most up to an acceptable and commeon configuration. The EA500 would be one hell of a machine.

    There are one or two bloggers that were active if not daily participants on the other "New-Old" and "Critic" blog that had there own interest at stake. If you were a developer of an aircraft that was being designed to compete against the EA500 in the GA market; it was in your best interest to slam the company and aircraft. Unfortunately... some found it to be sport. With total disregard to the people that their comments were effecting. Many people remain scarred because of the loose comments made on the other blogs.
